When a family cat died in ancient Egypt, family members would mourn its death by shaving off their eyebrows. The cat would be mummified, wrapped in fine linen and buried along with jewelry with tiny mummies of mice. Huge cemeteries of feline mummies have been discovered at a number of locations across Egypt. (Source)
